A fresh start can be not only beneficial for you, it can be beneficial to everyone around you. It is important to realize that whenever you’re feeling stuck or down, there is nowhere to go but up. A fresh start is only a decision away, and by making the decision to start over you will be able to inspire others to do the same. If you want to help yourself and others there are many things you can do!

Give time to the community

Whether you’re helping to clean up your city, or volunteering your time to help renovate a home there are multiple organizations helping others start over that you can choose from. Have a business wardrobe no longer in use? Donate your clothing to Dress for Success to help other women in need of professional wear for interviews. Habitat for Humanity utilizes volunteer labor to rebuild homes for families in need. Music helps people more than you’d think and can actually help elderly with dementia recall some of their most treasured memories. Music and Memory needs volunteers to meet with the elderly and help trigger their memories through music.

Connect with people in your community

Sometimes all people need is a little help to make big changes in their lives. Do you know someone who may qualify for food assistance? Helping them find out could change everything for them. You can also cook or donate to a local food pantry. There are many places that have an easy drop-off location and you can donate as much or as little as you want. If you connect with the people in your community you will be able to find out what they are in need of that you or someone else may be able to help with.

Use your passions to give back

If there is something you enjoy, you can absolutely bet that there is someone out there that enjoys it too but may not have all the resources you do to make it a reality. Love reading? Read with children. Love fashion? Help someone create an affordable wardrobe to suit their needs. Are you an artist? Teach a class! Create the Good can help you find volunteer opportunities in your community.
